Steam rises from a hot pool in the Olkeduháls geothermal area of the Hrómundartindur volcanic system, which lies south of Thingvallavatn lake. The Olkeduháls geothermal field contains numerous hot springs, mud pools, fumaroles, and mineral warm springs.
